Covington - Willard Allen, 75 retired farmer and coal miner, died suddenly at 12:15 p.m Tuesday at his home in the Stringtown area about 9 miles south of here. Death was attributed to a heart attack. A lifelong resident of the Stringtown area, he was a member of Tidal Lodge No 36 K of P here. Born Jan 31, 1891, north of Cates, he was a son of John and Mary Catherine Hankins Allen. He was married November 14 1911 to Ida Catherine berto. Survivors include the widow; two sons, Norman of anderson and Darrell of Rockville; two brothers, Zimmie and Noah, both of Rt 1, Covington; four sisters, Mrs. Clara Merryman of Waynetown; Mrs. Hester Woodrow of Rt 1, Covington, Mrs. Nina Tanner of Hillsboro and Mrs. Mary Jones of Kingman; 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 4 brothers. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here with Rev. Alfred Dobbs officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 pm. Wednesday and after noon Thursday.
